Community Relationships
Northern communities depend on reliable connectivity for everything from daily communications to emergency response. But in remote regions, outages can have outsized consequences.
The goal of the Dempster Fibre Line was clear: build a redundant fiber backbone that strengthens network reliability across Canada’s North while supporting future expansion.

Location:
Dawson City, YT → Inuvik, NWT
Terrain:
Permafrost, tundra, mountain corridors, river crossings
Access:
Remote
From permafrost to remote mountain corridors, terrain shaped every phase. Limited access and long supply routes made logistics complex, while seasonal construction windows left little room for delays.
With remote communities relying on consistent connectivity, every decision had to support long-term resilience, all while maintaining alignment across jurisdictions, regulatory bodies, and Indigenous stakeholders.

Stakeholder Coordination
Specialized plows, trenching, and directional drilling helped navigate permafrost-sensitive zones and challenging crossings, while a redundant network design strengthened reliability for remote communities.
Centralized project management and ongoing alignment helped maintain progress across stakeholders.
