Fusing Technician

As a crucial member of our field crews, the Fusing Technician will be responsible for fusing Natural Gas Polyethelene (PE) pipe and fittings using thermal and electrofusion technology at the jobsite.


  • Fusing Natural Gas polyethylene pipe using butt heat fusion, electrofusion, sidewall fusion, and socket fusion
  • Responsible for the setup of fusion equipment, handling materials and fusing the pipe
  • Maintain and operate the equipment for the successful completion of the fusing aspect of the project
  • Work with supervisors and other management to interpret job specifications
  • Verify specifications by performing quality assurance tests
  • Continually inspect and document work performed for quality and specification compliance
  • Dig around underground utility pipelines with hand tools
  • Load and unload equipment and materials
  • Ensure hand and power tools are maintained and working
  • Other General Labor and construction related duties as required


  • 1+ years’ polyethylene pipe fusing experience required
  • Manitoba Hydro f2 polyethylene pipe fusing certification required
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clear driving abstract
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week and/or on weekends
  • Ability to perform inspection checks to ensure standards are being met
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
  • Must be comfortable working around energized utilities
  • Strong attention to detail

$23.00 to $25.00 per hour
