Fiber Splicing/Network Maintenance Manager

The Fiber Splicer/Network Maintenance Manager reports directly to the General Manager, Network Services, and works with our Operations department as a leader of the Splicing and Network Maintenance Team to manage the network maintenance of ROHL’s Fiber Optic Network.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:

  • Manage the Splicing and Maintenance team and our Sub-Contractors by prioritizing, scheduling, and dispatching themselves and the team to projects
  • Train and develop new and existing field technicians
  • Liaise with the customer, the crew working on the projects, and with senior management
  • Submit project progress reports to ROHL’s Project Management group
  • Interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field with clarity and detail
  • Make recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies and submit revisions to OSP Maintenance Manager using CAD, Visio, or another suitable program
  • Troubleshoot, test, splice, validate, and repair both loose tube and ribbon optic cable in both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Perform accurate cable termination for all patch panels and network equipment
  • Construct proper splice case including, but not limited to, grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing
  • Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics, and diagrams
  • Enter and maintain outside plant records and prepare engineering field notes
  • Performs routine maintenance and recognize and repair route issues including Hand Hole cleanup, sign placement and weed control
  • Perform underground utility locates
  • Point of Presence maintenance, network equipment installation and commissioning
  • Produce quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner

This position requires an organized and self-motivated individual who can lead and motivate their team to complete assigned projects on time and on budget.  The successful candidate should have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in OSP/ISP Fiber Optic Splicing and testing and a solid knowledge of OSP fiber construction
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, and other job specific programs such as EXFO FastReporter
  • Ability to read and follow engineer’s instructions and specifications
  • Strong time management, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel out of town, work away from home, and be available for evening and weekend work and be available on short notice and/or be on call when required
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and must provide proof of vaccination upon hire (medical exemptions may occur on a case-by-case basis

For the right candidate, we’re offering a salary of $100,000.00 – $125,000.00 (depending on experience)
